Fundraising in Our Clinic

Donation box of hope to save
children with intractable diseases
There are children who give
insulin injections every day to live

Type1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that can develop very suddenly, regardless of one’s lifestyle. It is thought that there are approximately 70,000 patients nationwide.
The only way in which Type1 diabetics can carry on with their lives is to continually supplement their insulin levels through daily injections (insulin is a unique hormone that controls blood glucose levels). At present, this is a disease which cannot be cured through medical treatment.

We donate IDDM network.
The IDDM network is an accredited NPO (Non-profit organization) that supports patients and families who need insulin supplements for their daily lives, for instance for Type1 diabetes. Its ultimate aim is the eradication of Type1 diabetes (Cure + Treatment + Prevention). Its more immediate objective is to make Type1 diabetes a “curable” disease by 2025.

Our Clinic’s Commitment
to SDGs

The Sustainable Development Goals, or SDGs, were adopted at the UN Summit in September 2015. There are 17 SDGs and 169 specific targets needed to achieve them. The 193 Member States of the United Nations aim to achieve these in the 15 years from 2016 to 2030. Leaving no one behind is an important promise of the SDGs.
In the SDGs Achievement Ranking released in 2018, Japan ranked 15th out of 156 countries, with Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Germany, and France in the top 5. Of the 17 goals set for Japan, only one—Goal 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all—was recognized as having been achieved, while the other goals remain to be accomplished.

Our clinic places importance on hospitality and doctors who provide comprehensive care, turning no one away. So, what is our approach to the SDGs?

At Okochikai Medical Corporation, Okochi Internal Medicine Clinic,we make efforts in the following areas.

  1. 1. Comprehensive medical examinations that turn no one away, as well as cutting-edge specialized medical care for diabetes and gastrointestinal diseases
  2. 2. A workplace that provides greatly inspiring hospitality to patients who also suffer the mental impacts of illness
  3. 3. Work style reforms and the creation of a workplace with an emphasis on work merit where women can take on active roles

We place the utmost importance on our staff and their families, as well as our suppliers and their families, in order to ensure that women can take on active roles in society.
As a result, we aim to provide patients with greatly inspiring medicine. We hope to spread this new era of medicine, which works to not only improve patients’ illnesses but also their mental symptoms, throughout Japan.

Ensure healthy lives and promote
well-being for all at all ages

Expand the greatly inspiring medicine of the clinic globally.

Although remarkable advances have been made in medicine, we often hear stories of hospitals that are unfriendly, only treating the illness without treating the patients as human beings.
We also often hear that patients are hesitant to visit medical institutions due to COVID-19.
That is why patients now look for hospitals and clinics that are recognized for their service, where patients know they will be provided not only with care for their illness but also for their mental health. We aim to be a clinic where people can feel safe, where they can put trust in the care providers, and feel satisfaction.

Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education
and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all

Learning to enhance both medical skills and moral character & education for children are also important.

  • Holding study sessions and team meetings to enable cutting-edge medical care
  • Participation in seminars and conferences and full implementation of the necessary financial support
  • Support for obtaining certified instructors’ qualifications for praise and individual psychology in addition to obtaining professional qualifications
  • Training with external guest lecturers and participation in annual lectures at integrated medical and business schools
  • We cooperate with each other to participate in school events through active use of paid holidays.

Achieve gender equality and empower
all women and girls

We work to create a workplace where women can take on active roles.

  • Our clinic places great emphasis on human resource development. This is because we hope that our staff will not see their work as a simple transaction but instead grow as people, play an active part in a wide range of activities, and become individuals that others admire.
  • In fact, partly as a result of this human resource development, our staff has grown and now transcends the boundaries of the clinic. This includes staff who appear on TV, staff who give lectures at seminars with over 100 participants, staff who are invited to give lectures at other hospitals, and staff who publish books.
  • Taking advantage of the opportunity to grow at the clinic, there are many staff members who are achieving dreams that could never be achieved alone.
  • Recognized by the Japanese government for our achievements, we have grown into a clinic that receives awards from the Japanese government as an ideal clinic, including awards in the Awards for Japan’s Most Valued Companies and the White Company Awards.

Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable
economic growth, full and productive employment
and decent work for all

We work to create a workplace that emphasizes work merit and that utilizes the strengths of each and every individual.

  • We aim to create a workplace where employees can make meaningful contributions by finding each individual’s strengths, such as the work in which they excel, the work they like, and their strengths outside work, and by taking advantage of such strengths. We use goal setting, hold one-on-one meetings, and talk about what kind of work they want to try taking on.
  • In addition to medical technology, we place an emphasis on growth as a persons of virtue. We motivate and encourage growth through empowered teams based in trust.
  • Promotion of employees taking paid leave
  • Aggressive reduction of overtime hours
  • Improving work efficiency through outsourcing

Eliminate inequalities
between people and countries

We work to create a world free from medical discrimination against people of different races and those with disadvantages.

  • The reality today is that many people are unable to receive equal medical care because of their nationality or disabilities.
  • In order to help create a world where all people can receive proper medical care equally regardless of country or race, we do not turn anyone away at our clinic.

Make cities and human settlements inclusive,
safe, resilient and sustainable

We aim to create a community where Japanese citizens and foreign nationals living in Japan can work and raise their children with peace of mind.

  • The idea that Japanese and foreign nationals living in Japan can continue to live in Japan with peace of mind has been largely destroyed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • There are many hospitals that do not accept patients with fevers or that do not accept patients because of their nationality. Hospitals where people can go with peace of mind in the event of an emergency are essential in areas in order for both Japanese and foreign nationals to continue to live with peace of mind.
  • That is why we need hospitals that turn no one away, including foreign nationals. In order to do so, we believe that hospitals should be operated as teams, with the hospital director and staff working together to protect the community. Our clinic is operated based on this belief.

Strengthen the means of implementation
and revitalize the global partnership
for sustainable development

We aim to achieve major goals through joint ventures with other industries that go beyond the scope of healthcare.

  • We have expanded our network of contacts not only in the healthcare industry but also in the business world, and have begun to lead Japanese healthcare to greater heights by holding joint lectures and implementing joint ventures.
  • In addition, we are connected to upper management and different industries in Japan. Many of our staff members are actively achieving their dreams beyond the boundaries of medicine, dreams that could not be achieved in the healthcare industry alone.
  • Our staff has grown and now transcends the boundaries of the clinic. This includes staff who appear on TV, staff who give lectures at seminars with over 100 participants, staff who are invited to give lectures at other hospitals, and staff who publish books.
  • Recognized by the Japanese government for our contributions to human resource development, we have grown into a clinic that receives awards from the Japanese government as an ideal clinic, including awards in the Awards for Japan’s Most Valued Companies and the White Company Awards.
